We hope you are enjoying

thankful for each and every one of you!
Family News
Not only are we baking from
the heat here in Thailand (it is the HOTTEST time of the year!), we’ve got a
little baby baking in the oven that will make HER grand appearance in less than
2 months! So our next update may be from
Chiang Mai, the city that we hope to make it to for her delivery (it’s a 10
hour drive…don’t worry, we are leaving early J). As for birthdays, Moriah is now 4, and Jason and
Jenn are BOTH 30 YEARS OLD.
Involvement here in Sahatsakhan About a month ago our senior leaders, Rolf and Elfi, went on their home assignment to Switzerland. The increased responsibility has been a very positive push for us to get more involved with the small fellowship of believers. Jason has spent time learning Thai worship songs on his ukulele for worship, has led the Bible study one Sunday morning and has been more involved with organizing Sundays with our Thai coworker Tuu. Jenn has been able to get out and visit a few of the women from the church with Tuu as well. We continue to help Tuu with the kids club she has in her village.

After an English camp that Jason taught at with Tuu and another family from church, he started teaching neighbor kids English on Wednesday nights.
Please pray that these English teaching opportunities would lead to both the young and old asking questions about our work here and lead to discussions about Jesus.

Language study – one day
we might get there!
Moriah and Auntie Tuu, our Thai coworker |
We are both currently
studying a Thai language module with Tuu that helps us to answer both some of
the common questions that Buddhists like to ask or problems frequently
encountered by Buddhism. Some of the topics are: “Aren’t Buddha and Jesus the
same Lord?” or “My grandparents have
always been Buddhist, so it’s not important for me to change my beliefs,” and “The
Christian religion is a Westerner’s religion.” Please pray that we would not only study for
our language check but that God would use this module in our conversations with
our Buddhist friends/acquaintances.
Pastor Chalong (his name
means “Celebrate”), is a
pastor of a small rural
church about 15 miles
south of where we live. His
family has been such
an encouragement to our
family and to the rest of the Christians
here in Sahatsakhan. Years
ago, he and his wife lost a child who had cerebral palsy. They have 2 more
children, one of them is living with cerebral palsy. The way he and his wife take
care of their 21 year old son “Grace” is such a testimony to the people in the community
he serves in. During Christmas, Chalong preached at an outreach near our house.
The people were disinterested and paid no attention to him, but he continued
preaching. We got to see what it looks like to preach for the glory of God and
not for the acceptance of men. I am very thankful to Father for giving us opportunities
to meet these rural pastors in Kalasin, who pastor small churches with about 8
to 15 people on a good day.
Travel/ Project Paul Church Planting training
We will be attending a 2 week
church planting training called “Project Paul” at the OMF Guest House in
Bangkok during the last 2 weeks of April. We are very much looking forward to
it and several of our missionary friends (and Moriah’s MK friends) will be
attending as well.
Blessings,
-Jason, Jenn & Moriah
