December 2014 update

Dear Partners and Friends,

Sorry for this long overdue update! We will write again soon telling you about our move/new life in Isaan. What a transition it has been! For now we will update you on what’s going on currently (this Christmas season) and how you can be praying!

English camp in Sahatsakhan
As the people here in Sahatsakhan would like to see their town more touristy (did you know we have a dinosaur museum and a walking street called the “Dino Road” in Sahatsakhan? :) ), our team was invited to teach tourist English to the locals. Nightly meetings were held over the course of about 3 weeks for the community. It was a very natural way to make good contacts with the people here.

Christmas Season Opportunities
The Christmas season provides great opportunities to share the gospel. Rolf (our team leader) has set up a lot of Christmas outreaches during this month. It has been busy, and it will stay busy until the end of the month.

A group of Thai Christians came and performed a Christmas program for the adults and children of Sahatsakhan. A team of Bangkok and Isaan believers came together to proclaim the hope that is found in Christ. Over 150 locals attended the outreach. This was also a great opportunity for the Christians here in Sahatsakhan to get fellowship with other Thai Christians. Praise the Lord!

We currently have a team from OM (Logos Hope) with us to help with the Christmas outreaches. The OM team consists of 4 individuals from Ecuador, Brazil, Germany and Switzerland, it is great to watch the nations working together to reach the nations! Rolf and Efli’s (our team leaders) daughter Sandra is on the team, it has been fun getting to know her. We just finished a two day English camp/Christmas outreach at a rural school in Sahatsakhan. Rolf had the opportunity to preach the gospel and was able to tell them in a very polite and direct Swiss way that the Big Bang theory is false and that we didn’t evolve from monkeys. Instead, he taught that there is a Creator who created all things and that we have been created by God and for God. We were able to give the teachers a Bible and the students received a Christmas cartoon book explaining the real reason behind Christmas. Praise God for this! Please join our team in prayer for the students and teachers who were involved, that they may turn from their life of death and turn to the giver of new life—Jesus our Lord!

The Sunday after the English camp and the Christmas program we had 3 new people come to our Sunday morning gathering (House of Peace) whom we had met at the English camp and Christmas outreach. Praise God, we hope more will come and experience the love of Father.

Upcoming outreaches

We have a team from Hong Kong that will be joining us this week to help with more Christmas programs. The more Christmas programs we have, the more the gospel is being proclaimed! We covet your prayers.

We wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

August 2014 newsletter update - sorry I'm behind at posting!

Dear Friends and Family,

Greetings from the field, I hope you are all doing well and staying encouraged in our living faith that we have in a living God.

Found a house!
We have great news! We found a house in the Sa-hat-sa-khan District of the Province of Kalasin in the Northeastern area of Thailand (Isaan). What an experience it was trying to find a house! We are very thankful for our team leaders Rolf and Elfie who diligently searched with us (and for Jenn’s parents and sister who baby-sat for us!). On the last day of our house hunt, there seemed to be no hope of finding a house on this trip. During a coffee break we asked the coffee shop owner if they knew of any houses available for rent. He grabs a sign and holds it up. The sign read “House for rent call xxx-xxx-xxxx.”  Rolf made the phone call and everything from there fell into place. We later found out a friend in the States had been woken up in the middle of the night and felt called to pray for us. This was around the same time we found our house!

The house will need very minimal repairs, the price of the rent is very good, it has a gate in front (to protect Moriah from the road), and the landlord seems like a good man. The only negative is that it’s further out in the countryside, so we are not as centrally located as we had hoped. We rejoice however and praise God for His gift.

Finishing our time in Lopburi
In this last month of September, we will finish up school, pack/clean out our house, say good-byes to friends in Lopburi, and then take some holiday time as a family before the big move.

We appreciate you so much and are grateful that we can partner together with the goal to see the Isaan people come to Christ.

With grateful hearts,

Jay, Jenn and Moriah
